I have always been interested in Japanese culture to some extent at various point in my life. Last spring I went on a vacation to Japan and it was a somewhat life-changing experience. Being in Japan was like being in a perpetually altered-state– everyday I woke up feeling euphoric. The exuberance of Tokyo overwhelmed me in the best possible way. I returned to the US determined to revisit Japan with an at least somewhat proficient knowledge of the language.I am excited to learn enough of the language in this course to be able to get around Japan on my own (though I don't expect to be able to engage in deep conversation with the natives). So far I have found the everyday quizzes challenging– simply for the fact that they are everyday.

I'm very happy to hear that you are intersted in Japan. Even though it is a small country, Japan has a lot of various culture. Only with two-hours-ride will take you to a completely different world so I strongly recommend you to go travel around.
